Margie Marie Walther Middaugh was welcomed home to Heaven Monday, Oct. 2, 2023. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family with love.

Margie was born Feb. 12, 1935, to Henry and Albertina Walther in Taylor.

Margie deeply loved God, her husband Ray and her ever growing family. She was very loving and welcomed everyone with open arms. We all know the comfort of coming into her home and grabbing a ‘pop’ from her always stocked fridge and one of the many snacks she always kept on hand.

In true Christian spirit, Margie loved big and unconditionally, and was the most honest person you could ever meet. So honest that she drove back to the grocery store one evening to give the cashier back the two pennies overpaid to her in change. She was so worried that the cashier was going to come up short in her drawer and Margie couldn’t stand the thought of her getting in trouble for that.

She was a longtime member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elgin where in her younger days, she was an active member serving on the Alter Guild, teaching Sunday school and Vacation Bible School and setting up and monitoring the Church Library.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Ray Middaugh. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Elvira Walther, Albert Walther, Max Walther, Harold Walther and Peggy Ging.

She is survived by her brother, Wilbur Walther; and her sister, RoseLee Hardi. She is survived by her children, Russell Middaugh, Terri Middaugh, Alan Middaugh and Dee and husband John Perry. Margie was blessed with 12 grandchildren, Eric Middaugh and wife Meredith, Holly and husband Steven Vasterling, Shelby and husband Tim O’Dell, Marshall Blaine, Adam Blaine and wife Sarah, Ryan Blaine and wife Sherri, Brandon Blaine and wife Bree, Rachel and husband AJ Garcia, Stacy and husband Cody Mauck, Jamie and husband Justin Hardy, Megan and husband Alex Carmichael and Colton Perry. She also had 22 great grandchildren who gave her so much joy.

Margie leaves behind a big legacy of love and many, many precious memories that her family will cherish forever.
