An Austin man wanted on warrants stemming from a fatal 2023 crash was arrested May 8 after Bastrop County deputies responded to another accident east of Elgin, records show.
Alexis Acevedo, 21, was taken into custody by Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office deputies following a vehicle accident about 11 p.m. on the 1200 block of FM 3000. An investigation revealed Acevedo had two outstanding warrants out of Austin for collision causing death and possession of a controlled substance.
He was arrested and is being transferred from the Bastrop County Jail to the Travis County Jail.
The warrants stem from a December 2023 crash near the intersection of East Parmer Lane and Harris Branch Parkway in Austin, where the suspect reportedly struck another vehicle and pedestrian on a bicycle.
The cyclist, 31-year-old Ashton Hutchinson, died from his injuries.
According to authorities, Acevedo fled the scene. He was subsequently charged with collision causing death and booked into the Travis County Jail.
He was released upon posting a $60,000 bond a month later.
