Elgin Independent School District superintendent announces retirement

Jana Rueter announced plans to retire after 34 years in public education, including four years leading Elgin Independent School District. 

Her last day as superintendent will be June 30, before transitioning to superintendent emeritus through Dec. 31, 2026.
