$1M in bonds for suspected shooter

BASTROP — The Bastrop man accused of firing multiple rounds in a Home Depot parking lot last month received bond amounts set at a total $1 million.

Kobe Lee Mosser, 25, was arrested March 25 and faces five counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and three counts of abandoning or endangering a child, according to Bastrop County records. He remains in the Bastrop County Jail in lieu of posting the bond sum — $155,000 and $75,000 for each of the five and three counts, respectively.

During the incident, Bastrop Police Department officers responded about 3:49 p.m. to the 100 block of Hunters Crossing Boulevard after receiving reports of an active shooter. Police said the suspect drove into the Home Depot parking lot and indiscriminately fired multiple rounds from an AR-15-style rifle.

Police and Sheriff’s Office deputies said Mosser was detained without incident and reported no injuries, though property damage was confirmed.

Court records show Mosser has prior misdemeanor charges, including a 2020 driving while intoxicated case in Montgomery County and additional DWI and assault charges filed in Bastrop County in 2022 and 2023.
