Wildfire scorches 13 acres

BASTROP — A fire that broke out March 30 near Sandy Creek Road in Red Rock was fully contained after a two-day-long, multi-agency effort, according to the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management.

Final figures released April 1 show the fire burned approximately 13 acres and reached 100% containment. No injuries were reported.

At the height of the blaze, six homes and two additional structures were threatened. Officials reported no homes were destroyed, though two structures and one car were lost.

Air crews conducted water drops to help firefighters from several local and state departments, including Bastrop emergency service districts No. 1, 2, 3 and 11, Bastrop Fire Department, Texas A&M Forest Service, Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management, Bastrop County Sheriff’s office and Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Officials said local teams will continue monitoring the area.
