SMITHVILLE — Smithville High School softball standout Addison Otto announced her commitment to the University of Houston over the weekend.

A versatile utility player, Otto was a key contributor to the Tigers’ successful 2025 campaign, helping lead Smithville to a 2571 overall record and a firstplace finish in district play with a 91 mark. The Lady Tigers shined in the bidistrict round, no-hitting La Marque 160, before falling in a best-of-three sweep to Salado in the area round.

Otto led the team at the plate with a .443 batting average and matched fellow pitcher Jessica Hinnant with a team-best earned run average of 0.87.

Her impact extended beyond high school competition. Otto played for the Texas Bombers, one of the state’s premier club programs, helping the team capture a gold medal in the 16U division. She also earned a spot on the USA Women’s 15U softball team, gaining experience on the national stage and drawing attention from scouts across the country.

Otto is currently ranked as the No. 30 overall softball prospect in the country by On3 Sports.

She will look to carry her momentum into her senior season, where she aims to lead the Lady Tigers back to a district championship and a deep playoff run.
