SMITHVILLE — Smithville High School softball standout Addison Otto announced her commitment to the University of Houston over the weekend.

A versatile utility player, Otto was a key contributor to the Tigers’ successful 2025 campaign, helping lead Smithville to a 2571 overall record and a first-place finish in district play with a 91 mark. The Lady Tigers shined in the bi-district round, no-hitting La Marque 160, before falling in a best-of-three sweep to Salado in the area round.

Otto led the team at the plate with a .443 batting average and matched fellow pitcher Jessica Hinnant with a team-best earned run average of 0.87.
