Energetic elementary supporters turned out Saturday, May 17, for the inaugural Elgin PTA 5K Run/Walk, a community-wide event supporting students, families and teachers across Elgin Independent School District. Hosted by local PTA groups under the familiar district theme of “One Town, One Team, One Family,” the trek invited residents from across the county and aimed to unite the community behind its youngest members. Local businesses and organizations, including the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry and the city’s Texas Ultimate Cheer and Tumble, also hosted booths to share resources and services. Proceeds from the event will go toward school essentials and educational support, organizers said. Courtesy photo
