Six Elgin High School student-athletes signed their letters of intent last week during a ceremony held in the school’s auditorium.
Four Wildcats committed to continue their football careers. Zaire Nuells and Johnathon Richards both signed with Howard Payne University.
Nuells was a top target in Elgin’s passing attack, finishing the season with 481 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Richards added 198 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Noddyn Bailey will play football at Trinity Valley Community College after leading the Wildcats with 78 total tackles, including 11 tackles for loss.
Blake Thames signed with the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Thames served as the team’s starting long snapper and also contributed at wide receiver.
All four helped lead Elgin to a third-place finish in district play and a postseason victory over San Antonio Jefferson.
Jack Grames signed to play baseball at Luna Community College. Grames was one of the team’s top hitters and recorded multiple RBIs throughout the season.
Alejandro Arroyo-Palma will compete in powerlifting at the University of Texas. He broke school records and qualified for the UIL Class 5A state championships during his senior season.
