Three Wildcat track and field athletes punched their tickets to the Region III-5A Meet this weekend after top finishes at the area competition.
The trio finished in the top four of their respective events at the Districts 23-24-5A area meet Wednesday, April 9, at East View High School in Georgetown. The region meet is set for Friday and Saturday at Challenger Stadium in Houston.
Joseph Stiggers highlighted Elgin’s performance, claiming victories in both the shot put and discus events.
Lewis Reese also advanced with a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.
Kailyn Cook qualified as the lone Lady Cat after taking third in the 100-meter run.
The athletes delivered similar results at the District 24-5A meet earlier this month. Stiggers won the shot put and finished second in the discus, while Reese placed second in the 110 hurdles and Cook earned third in the 100.
