Elgin runners show promise at Brenham meet

Elgin freshman Ariana Verde poses with her medal after finishing 8th at the Brenham Hillacious Meet Saturday, Sept. 7, with a time of 23:31. The Elgin Wildcats Cross Country team had 18 athletes compete at Brenham High School. The junior varsity girls placed 7th, led by Verde’s performance. The varsity boys team finished 18th overall, with junior Matthew Cato leading the Wildcats with a time of 18:31. The Wildcats will next compete at the Salado Independent School District Tenroc Invitational Sept. 12.
