Councilwoman Brenda Piña resigned from her Ward 4 seat during a special council meeting Tuesday night.
Piña cited what she described as months of intimidation and public targeting since she was elected May 2. She also said she plans to file a formal ethics complaint with the city and report alleged intimidation and harassment to the Texas Rangers.
“I understand public service comes with criticism,” Piña said. “But not blatant sniping that I have endured these past five months since I took office.”
Piña also denied allegations that she leaked information from an executive session.
The city did not have an immediate statement following her resignation.
