Elgin home catches fire

​A downtown Elgin house went up in flames on Friday, Feb. 3, and the structure is considered to be a complete loss.​The fire, which occurred at the corner of Main Street and Lexington Road, happened at approximately 5:40 a.m. and took about 45 minutes to get under control, according to Chief Marco Martinez of North Bastrop County Fire Rescue. ​The house was vacant at the time of the incident. Therefore, Chief Martinez couldn’t definitively determine the cause of the fire.
