Heading into July, Miguel Castillo began serving as Elgin Independent School District’s new Director of Emergent Bilingual and Early Childhood Programs.The new role will see Castillo tasked with furthering the development of the district’s bilingual and English as a second language student population, as well as expanding its early childhood programs.“Mr. Castillo brings nearly three decades of experience in education and a passion for his work,” said Elgin ISD Superintendent Jana Rueter. “We’re excited for the positive impact he will make on the lives of our students.”Castillo previously served as an elementary school principal in Laredo and Pflugerville, before moving ...
