City of Elgin 101, municipality academy returns

The application deadline fast approaches for City of Elgin 101, the town’s citizen academy in place to educate residents about local government operations, cultivate future leaders and showcase the talents of city staff members.

This is the second year that City Secretary Jennifer Stubbs will be running the group of interested locals through eight rounds of informative sessions.

“We do a whole lot of good, we’re building roads, a new police station, a wastewater treatment plant, there’s so much that I don’t think people know municipalities do,” said Stubbs in a recent interview.
