​The Elgin girls powerlifting team weren’t their typical dominant selves at the recent Del Valle meet.​The Lady Wildcats finished ninth at the Dec. 18 meet in large part because top lifters such as Nya Kirk Jones, Ralyssa Enueshike and Maria Yanez didn’t compete in the event. When at full strength, Elgin has finished first or second in every meet this season.​Despite being short handed, several Wildcat lifters finished in the top five of their respective weight class.
