One man’s dream was remembered in Elgin on his namesake day.Martin Luther King Jr. Day was commemorated with the 34th Annual Walk for Peace, Justice, and Equality. Many residents descended onto downtown Elgin to march through town to remember MLK Jr.The Bastrop County Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Commission presents the annual walk and celebration. The event rotates yearly between host cities in the county.“These are all volunteers,” said Mayor Theresa McShan of the group. “They’re taking time out of their day and out of their pocketbooks.”Elgin’s march began at Veterans Memorial Park and headed through town to Booker T.
