The Elgin Cross Country team travelled 30 miles east on Highway 290 to participate in the meet held in Giddings on Friday, September 25. One of eight teams competing, the ‘Cats took a travel squad of seven boys and three girls to run. This was the first meet of the season, and coaches Hector Garcia and Heather Clapper were eager to see how their team reacted to good competition and a new course.

Read moreAfter weeks of not being able to gather, Elgin Wildcat athletes were able to begin practice last week for the fall sports season. Due to COVID-19, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) delayed the first day of practice for Conference 5A schools like Elgin High School until September 7. The Wildcat varsity football team plan to play a scrimmage against Navarro High School at Burger Stadium in Austin on September 25, then play their first real game at home against Marble Falls on October 5.
