Read moreThe Elgin Purple Junior Varsity baseball team took top honors at the La Grange tournament this past weekend. The Wildcats were victorious over Smithville 15-1, with Tyson King as the winning pitcher and multiple hits by Gann, Kirgan, Gomez, Aguirre and Francis. The Wildcats then dispatched Bellville 6-3, led by winning pitcher Greg Aguirre and Nic Saucedo at the plate. The championship game against Cuero was a tough affair, a 3-1 triumph, with King again getting the win on the mound and Austin Gann leading the offense with 3 hits and 3 stolen bases.
