Virtual concert raises thousands for monument relocation

Musicians from near and far lent their performances for a virtual concert, Move Forward Fest, to raise money to relocate Bastrop’s Confederate monuments, livestreamed on the evening of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Last summer, the Bastrop County Commissioners Court approved the relocation of two Confederate monuments at the county courthouse and appointed a committee of community members to coordinate their relocation. The committee’s duties include finding a new location for the monuments and raising the funds to do so from private sources. The cost to move the monuments is estimated at $50,000.
