Council extends face covering ordinance Posted in: News The Elgin City Council renewed the city’s face covering ordinance through March 24 at its most recent meeting on January 19. The emergency ordinance expires within 60 days; the ordinance was last re-passed in November, so it would have expired on January 23. The ordinance requires all commercial entities in the city to post a notice that employees and visitors are required to wear face coverings when six feet of separation from others is not feasible.
