Council extends face covering ordinance

The Elgin City Council renewed the city’s face covering ordinance through March 24 at its most recent meeting on January 19. The emergency ordinance expires within 60 days; the ordinance was last re-passed in November, so it would have expired on January 23. The ordinance requires all commercial entities in the city to post a notice that employees and visitors are required to wear face coverings when six feet of separation from others is not feasible.
