‘Something had to be done’: Businesses, organizations step up to help during winter storm

As Elgin suffered the effects of last month’s record-breaking winter storm along with the rest of Texas, local businesses such as The Healthy Spot and Chemn Cafe, and organizations such as In The Streets - Hands Up High Ministry, opened their doors and worked to provide warmth and essential items to those in need. During the winter storm, downtown health food shop The Healthy Spot opened its doors to offer its shop as a warm shelter, with food, electricity, water and about 15 cots.
