Lambert Eric Wissen

Lambert Eric “Sonny” Wissen, age 93, of Elgin, Texas passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

Sonny was born August 21, 1926 to Robert and Emma Wissen in Elroy, Texas. On November 1, 1947 he married Ruth Poehl and had four children, Dale, Chris Glenn and Wanda. Sonny and Ruth just celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.

Sonny worked for Dr. Pepper, Southwestern Bell and retired from AT&T. He enjoyed volunteering his time at the Elgin Local Food Pantry. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and moved to Elgin and became a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He also loved volunteering for the Manchaca Optimist Baseball and did everything he needed to do to help the organization. During his free time he loved to fish.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Wanda Wissen, his siblings; Edger, Gene, Naomi and Florence.

Sonny is survived by his wife Ruth, sons; Dale Wissen and wife Beverly, Glenn Wissen and wife Karla, and Chris Wissen and wife Bobbie, his grandchildren Lisa Hart and husband Danny, Lacy Wissen, Malinda Wissen, Katie Tipps and husband Jason, Ashley Grier and husband Trevor, and Robert Wissen. He also survived by great-grandchildren; Maddox, James, Hunter, Avery, Makayla, Taylor, Jaxson, Trenton and Gabe and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, February 1, 2020, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Lambert’s Life will be held 10:00 AM Monday, February 3, 2020, Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, with a graveside service following at 1:30 PM, Austin Memorial Park.
