A late short scoring run by the Bears wasn’t enough to take down the Mustangs in Saturday’s contest against Manor as Bastrop fell 4-2 on the road.
Trailing 4-0 heading into the sixth, the Bears began to rally. Reid Kovar reached first base on an error by the shortstop. After a single by Reagan Hibbs, Connally Bodine also reached on an error to load the bases.
A fielder’s choice play at home kept Bastrop at zero with one out. Wyatt Hamilton then went down on strikes. With two away, Austin Tabola doubled in the Bears’ two runs, igniting the brief rally.
