Lady Wildcats counting on young talent this season

​The Elgin girls soccer team has their sights set on the playoffs for the 2023 season.​The Lady Wildcats lost six seniors who were integral to the team’s 10-7-1 record last year. Nonetheless, three players who accounted for over half of the team’s goals in 2022 will return for their sophomore and junior campaigns.​Despite a relatively small senior class that will likely consist of just 4-6 girls, head coach Taylor Cansler feels confident in his team’s young nucleus of talent.​“We feel very good about our goal scoring abilities,” Cansler said. “And at this point, now we’re just trying to make sure ...
