Joe H. Beltran, 98, of Pflugerville, formerly of Elgin, Texas, was called home, on the evening of Wednesday, January 26, 2022. His beloved stepdaughter and constant care-giver, Marisela Torres, remained by his side as he passed on to his Eternal Home. Joe was born on August 27, 1923, in Bastrop County, to Domingo Beltran Sr. and Manuela Hernandez Beltran. Joe grew up in Elgin, where he was known by many through his business on Main Street, “Joe’s Shoe Shine.”  Joe enjoyed the company of his many friends who would often stop by to visit or talk about family, life, and especially politics, which sometimes became very heated. After closing his shop, Joe went to work for the University of Texas at Austin for many years, where he eventually retired.

Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Luisa Rodriguez; his brothers, Antonio, Anastacio, Domingo, Ben, Juan, Raymond, and Manuel; his sister, Alice Beltran.

Leaving to cherish his memory is his last sibling, Susie Lara; numerous nieces and nephews (too many to name); and his devoted and loving care-givers, Immer Acuña and Marisela Torres and their two daughters, whom Joe deeply loved, Nancy and Daliyah Acuña.

Immer and Marisela would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at North Austin Medical Center, Fr. John Kim, Fr. Paul Hudson, Maria Hernandez and staff of Elgin Funeral Home.

Family will receive guests at Elgin Funeral Home, Monday, January 31st from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM.  Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be conducted at Elgin Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 1st at 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Christian Burial, at Elgin Latin Cemetery, Tuesday, February 1st at 3:00 PM with Father Paul presiding. Arrangements and care are entrusted to Elgin Funeral Home.
