John Perez, Jr. was born on December 1, 1942, and passed away on January 26, 2022. He was born in Elgin, Texas where he attended school with his three brothers and three sisters. He served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1964 plus extended reserve on a destroyer because, as he said, he didn’t “want to be on a ship with more people than there were in my own hometown.”

He returned to Elgin to retire in 2010 where he lived and cared for his wife. John was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, served in his community, walked with confidence and honor, and was loved by so many.

John is preceded in death by his father, John Perez, mother, Julia Perez-Martinez, sister, Mary Lou Gonzales, and brother, Roy Perez.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, daughters, Roni Perez, Cindy Lawler and husband, Walter, and Julie Adams and husband, Jeff, grandchildren, Veronica Navejas and partner, Kyle Collins, Monica Navejas and wife, Shirley, John Navejas, III, Jamie Adams, Jordan Adams, and Shawn Lawler, great grandchildren, Santos Navejas, Isabel Navejas-Nalley, and Maggie Collins, sisters, Alice Trevino and Angie Perez, and brothers, Edward Perez and Joe Davis Perez.
