Visitors who come to the depot museum usually wander into the Veterans Room where they are greeted by hundreds of names of area veterans listed on the walls. These lists cover the Civil War, World Wars I-II, Korea, Vietnam plus others.This enormous project was the passion of an Elgin museum board member in the early years. Francis P. Smith was born and raised in Elgin, the fourth generation of his family.
