Protest event planned for Elgin canceled

Local organizations planned to hold their own demonstration last week to join in with protests across the country, but decided to hold off for now in order to guarantee a peaceful event. In late May, George Floyd, a black man in Minneapolis, Minnesota, was killed while detained by a police officer because the police officer knelt on Floyd’s neck for almost nine minutes.
