On Saturday, Down Home Ranch hosted their second annual “Full Circle” meal.
The event was coordinated by Cortney Ferris, the development director of the DHR. The Full Circle is an event created to invite friends and surrounding communities to come and experience the fresh grown farm produce planted and harvested by the ranchers at the DHR. The event was also a way to demonstrate the empowering skills of farming techniques that the ranchers develop.
The Full Circle is a six-course meal which introduces the fresh grown farm produce, along with other products from other fresh grown farms in the surrounding area. The menu was prepared by Private Chef Scarleth Aguilar, who was once the chef at the DHR. Aguilar specializes in Mediterranean and interior Mexican cuisine. She learned essential cooking techniques from around Europe and is now based in Austin.
"(I feel) honored to be asked to prepare the Full Circle Six Course menu this year,” Aguilar said.
When asked, she said she wanted to keep the tradition going and be a part of the event.
The guests were captivated by the elegant presentation of the meal. Kyle and Ashley Smith, who attended the event said they were having a great time.
The DHR empowers the ranchers to be independent by providing opportunities to participate in activities and educational courses that prepare them for the future. There are many life skills the Ranchers learn at their stay at the DHR. The Full Circle Event is a testimony to how diligently the Ranchers continue to achieve their goals in their lives.
