Smithville hosts filming for HBO series

Last week, film crews used Smithville’s charming downtown with its historic look and small-town feel to replicate 1980’s Wylie, Texas for the production of a true crime drama.Love and Death is an upcoming limited series for HBO Max about the true story of Candy Montgomery’s murder of friend Betty Gore in Wylie, Texas in 1980. Directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and written by David E.
