Elgin, area firefighters train for vehicle rescues

The Elgin Volunteer Fire Department, in conjunction with the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service’s, hosted a three-day Vehicle Rescuer Level 1 Training Exercise over the weekend. Firefighters from 16 different departments, including Caldwell, Elgin, Bastrop, Giddings, Thrall, Flatonia and McDade, learned vehicle extraction methods in the classroom and with actual vehicles, donated by Jesse Perkins of Elgin-area towing service JP Towing, on the property of Jay’s Tire & Automotive Repair in Elgin.
