First Bastrop County COVID-19 death is in Elgin

Officials announced on Monday that the first person in Bastrop County has been killed by COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus. The individual was a 58-year-old man from Elgin. “This troubling news hits close to home,” Elgin Mayor Chris Cannon said in a joint statement from Bastrop County governments released on Monday. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
