Tree-planting expands Memorial Park projects for Texas Arbor Day

The Elgin Parks & Recreation Department celebrated Texas Arbor Day on Saturday with its annual tree-planting event at Elgin Memorial Park near the Elgin Recreation Center. Attendees helped plant trees for the Edible Arbor Walk, which consists of a series of fruit- and nut-bearing trees in front of the Rec Center, and an area of native Texas plants to serve as a “stepping stone” for wildlife.
