School-turned-museum to open at Lawhon Springs

Everyone is welcome to attend the grand opening of the Lawhon Springs School Museum scheduled for September 21 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The school is located on FM 619, two miles from FM 696 toward Beaukiss. In the early days, Mrs. John L. Smith and her daughter, Elenor Jane, were the first white women to make tracks around the spring. Today, descendants of the same women are busy making tracks to prepare the vacant Lawhon Springs school into a local museum and history center.
