Local legend, Georgetown artist bring surreal art experience to Elgin

Posted in:

If you’ve driven through downtown Elgin, you’re likely familiar with Tom Besson’s mural on the Advocacy Outreach building.

The well-known Elgin artist and Georgetown artist Travis Cook are bringing a figurative surrealistic art show to the Clever Tiger. The downtown Elgin gallery space will be taken over by the artists, who are bringing audience members an unforgettable experience. The two artists find a commonality in figurative styles while maintaining their own preferred medium, which is acrylic and oil. Besson and Cook both touch on topics such as politics, nature and spirituality within their work, which is rich in color and thought-provoking stimuli.

Visit to learn more about the artists.

Admission is free and refreshments will be provided. Head to the opening reception on June 29 from 6 to 10 p.m. If you miss the opening, remaining works will be on display at the Clever Tiger during July’s Sip, Shop & Stroll event.
