Annual Elgin Juneteenth Celebration approaches

Elgin Juneteenth Celebration will start on Friday, June 7 with a street dance from 8 p.m. until midnight at Veterans Memorial Park on Depot Street. Bring your lawn chairs and coolers and come sit under the stars and listen to all genre of music provided by DJ Darsche Reese, also known as DJ ReeseBoi.

The celebration continues on Saturday, June 8 with a Grand Parade at 10 a.m. The line-up starts at 8 a.m. at Booker T Washington Elementary School, 510 Martin Luther King Boulevard. There will be vendors from all around selling their clothes, food, and all types of goods both Friday night and all day Saturday in the Veterans Memorial Park. There will also be all day activities and lots of music for your entertainment. The event is free and open to the public.

Parade (no entry fee) and vendor applications are available. Slots are open for entertainment (all genre of music, choirs, dance teams, drill teams, etc.). A limited amount of T-shirts will be available for purchase Friday and Saturday.
