What happens when “the show can’t go on?” It’s heartbreaking, that is for sure. Due to Covid-19 virus, Bastrop Opera House made the decision to cancel our last weekend of Neil Simon’s Fools and has had to cancel our musical, Hello! My Baby as well as The Odd Couple, a concert performance by Geno Gottchall and his Rockaholics, A Blood Feud Comes To Bastrop, as well as all our youth productions. Just like all the other theatres throughout the country, this has been extremely hard on our theatre. Not just emotionally, but financially as well.

However, we are determined that as soon as we are safely able, we will once again be bringing the magic of theatre to you. As of right now, we can’t tell you when the Opera House will be open, but we are looking to be able to start back up performing with July’s scheduled performances of the award-winning Exit Laughing.

Bastrop Opera House introduces their yearly sponsorship program, which comes with many benefits. Ticket sales cover just 60 percent of the costs for our live theatre productions, so we are incredibly grateful to our sponsors who help us bring up the lights on every performance, connecting our community in shared theatre experiences that elicit joy, empathy and self-discovery.

The Bastrop Opera House is also home to the Bastrop Opera House Youth Academy, which typically has an average of 50 youth ages eight to 19 enrolled. This is an amazing opportunity for our young thespians.
