Council approves street upgrade plan

The City of Elgin will begin making some much-needed repairs to several city streets later this year after the Elgin City Council approved a new annual street resurfacing program last month.In recent years, the council has made the decision to cut back on some expenses, such as street repairs, in order to build a healthy fund balance. However, this year’s budget has half a million dollars set aside to start catching up on repaving and improving streets.
