Citing a lack of rainy weather, the Bastrop County Commissioners Court extended the county-wide burn ban for another two weeks during last week’s regular meeting.
During their previous meeting on September 23, they extended it until October 15. The burn ban has been in place since August 6.
“We extended it to today hoping for wetter weather,” County Judge Paul Pape said. “We haven’t had wetter weather; in fact, we’re still breaking daily records.”
He added that he recommended extending the burn ban for only two more weeks, since the season could bring sudden weather events that pour down inches of rain.
