A chilly morning didn’t stop Elgin residents from thanking veterans for their service.The Annual Veterans Day Parade was Saturday, Nov. 12, in downtown Elgin. Led by Boy Scout Troop 182 holding the flags of America’s military branches, the march went down Main Street in Elgin where dozens of residents either huddled together or otherwise braved cold temperatures to salute veterans and their service.The Elgin High School Band, cheer team, Junior ROTC members from Camp Swift, the Elgin Fire Department, Elgin Police Department and others participated in the parade. VFW Post 6115 hosted the tribute.Area events also included a special ceremony at Elgin Elementary School on Veterans Day, Nov.
