The Smithville Tigers volleyball team recently caught fire in tournament action, cranking out six straight wins in convincing fashion.The three-day tournament, Aug. 25-27, gave the Tigers the extra competition they needed as they prepare for district play. Smithville’s only loss of the tournament came in their first game against Tidehaven. It was about as close of a match-up as you could get.The first set was a prolonged battle as both teams refused to give up. Tidehaven finally closed the deal though, winning the first set 27-25.The second set was another nail-biter.
