New cheer coach works to shape young team

Coach Jaclyn Torres has been teaching math at Elgin Middle School for seven years, but this is her first year serving as head coach for the Elgin Varsity Cheerleaders. Dancing, gymnastics and cheering have been part of her life since she was very young. She started gymnastics in the third grade and competition cheerleading in the seventh grade. She was also a varsity cheerleader at Leander High School. This year’s squad consists of 18 girls and one mascot.
