SMITHVILLE — The Smithville High School girls varsity basketball team stayed in the thick of the current playoff race Tuesday, Jan. 2 when the Lady Tigers picked up a pivotal 56-53 victory over the Lady Buffaloes of Giddings High School.Down by 10 points at two separate points in the third quarter, the Lady Tigers locked in against the Lady Buffaloes at home and rallied for a much-needed win to put them in a tie for second place with rival La Grange High School in the 4A-District 22 standings.Smithville senior Monica Lewis did it all as she finished with 13 points,
