Last Tuesday night, Elgin took on the East View Patriots.

The Lady Cats fell behind early in the first set 8-12. They fought their way back within one, and then took the lead 20-16. Unfortunately, East view came back, took the lead and ultimately the set, 25-22.

In the second set, Elgin got off to another bad start, falling to a 10-3 deficit. It only got worse after the Patriots went on another 10-3 run, making the score 23-7. It didn’t take them long to finish out the set and go up two sets to zero against Elgin.

It seemed as if the Wildcats couldn’t get any momentum going, because again they fell behind 8-1. Eventually after the score grew to 19-6, Elgin went on a five-point run, but the lead was too much they and lost the final set 25-11.

The opposite could be said about junior varsity and freshman teams. The junior varsity swept East View in two sets with a score of 25-16 and 25-17. While the freshmen won, they had to do so in exciting fashion by needing three sets and going into overtime in the final set. Their scores were 25-22 Elgin, 25-15 East View and 28-26 Elgin.

On Friday, the Lady Cats traveled a few miles down the road to face off against Cedar Creek, again losing all three sets, but by much closer margins. The final scores were 23-25, 20-25 and 23-25, Cedar Creek.
