Bears fall short in shootout

​Two high-octane offenses went head to head last Friday.​The Bastrop Bears, however, didn’t score quite enough and lost to the Veterans Memorial Patriots 44-32.​The game appeared far out of reach after the Patriots scored back to back touchdowns in the third quarter to make the score 30-9.​The Bears fought rigorously, though, to claw their way back into the game. They marched down the field quickly, and the drive ended with Bears running back Demire Thompson punching in a 2-yard rushing score.
