During this year’s legislative session in Texas, Senate Bill 21—relating to the distribution, possession, purchase, consumption and receipt of cigarettes, electronic cigarettes and tobacco products—was passed. The most important detail of the bill is that it will prohibit the sale of cigarettes, e-cigarettes and other tobacco products to Texans younger than 21 years of age. The law will, however, allow an exception for all members of the military over the age of 18 with a valid military ID. This law will take effect on September 1, 2019.
