Hotel did not offer refund after cancelling due to COVID-19

Posted in:

My wife and I had business in Elgin, Texas. We called and made reservations at a hotel. The next day, we were exposed to COVID-19. To do the correct thing and self-isolate, at least until we could get tested, we cancelled our trip. We called to cancel the reservations and were told that we would not get our money back because it was a non-refundable reservation. We explained the reason and that we were following the guidelines of the CDC. We did not want to expose any of her staff or customers to COVID-19, nor any else along the trip.
