Wilford Tracy Scott

  • Wilford Tracy Scott

Wilford Tracy Scott went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, June 14, 2023. We are comforted that his parents, Wilford Doyle Scott and Janie Marie Carter Scott, were there waiting to welcome him home.

Tracy was born in Taylor, July 2, 1963, but spent his entire life in Elgin, a town that he affectionately called “home sweet home.” As a youngster, Tracy displayed his love for classic country music when he dressed in all black and took his guitar to go with Janie to see Johnny Cash.

He spent many boyhood hours tending pet pigeons. As an adult, he pursued a vocation in truck driving and was an expert in all things 18-wheeler. He relaxed by listening to 70s tunes, fishing and reading Sherlock Holmes’ mysteries (sometimes all at the same time). Tracy loved watching Charles Stanley preach and Humphrey Bogart act. He spent many an evening sitting in the backyard communing with nature.

Tracy was a sweet and gentle soul, admired by all as a “true gentleman.” He will be missed by all that knew him.

He is greatly loved by his family, which includes his sisters and brothersin- law, Sandra and Paul Lake, Suzette and Scott Roberts, Samantha and Cecil Ballard, Shellsea and Brian Ruden; and his niece’s family, Stephanie and Brian Camp and their twin daughters, Addison and Briley. He was a faithful companion to his mother, Janie, when she was in her elder years. They had a very special bond.

Services are pending at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin.
