Timothea Mary Cherry

Timothea Mary Cherry, age 84, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on February 22, 2022. Timothea was born on June 4, 1937, in Ravenna, Michigan. to Robert William and Evelyn Eve (Sperry) Ragen. She attended St. Joseph’s Academy in Michigan and later earned her Master’s in Education at Stephen F. Austin. Timothea met Charles Edward Cherry and they were married on January 31, 1970.

She worked as a teacher all over Texas for 10 years and was then offered a job as a teacher in Moreno Valley, California from which she retired in 2008. Timothea loved to swim, she went swimming in any and every waterway that she was near throughout her travels and loved her Jacuzzi. Timothea worked for Habitat for Humanity for over 30 years which gave her the opportunity to travel throughout the United States. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would find any excuse to do so.

Timothea was a loving, practical, and caring woman. She would involve herself in as many activities and organizations as she could which was just a part of what a giving person she was. She was a strong prayer warrior, good mother, and great wife.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Cathy and Corinne, and her first husband, Donald W. Gast.

Timothea is survived by her husband, Charles, her 9 children, 18 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, her brother, William, and sisters, Jacqueline and Daphne.
