Ronald Gene Roberts was born July 20, 1953 in Austin Texas to Wayland and June Roberts and departed this earth October 11, 2019 after many years of battling kidney disease. Ronnie was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son and friend to many.

Growing up in Austin, Ronnie told tales through his life of adventures on horses and motorcycles. He graduated from Lanier High School in 1972, where he enjoyed playing football and eventually met Cindy Webb his senior year. Ronnie and Cindy married in 1973 and lived in Austin for a time, eventually settling in Elgin, TX, where they raised their three children.

Ronnie worked as a carpenter and in construction for most of his career. He ended his working days in July 2019 when he retired from Bastrop County. He took pride in hard work, providing for his wife and family, and enjoyed the friendships formed over the years at work, especially those he made in his years with Hobbs Construction and later with the Bastrop County crew.

In his spare time Ronnie enjoyed time with family and many hobbies over the years including fishing, boating, body building, listening to live music, and, of course, riding his Harley. Ronnie and Cindy traveled all over the country, often on their motorcycle. Ronnie endured many years of bladder cancer and kidney disease, and though this was hard, he managed to still find ways to enjoy life. He loved to share a drink with friends and couldn’t stand the company of “suck-tits”. He really enjoyed giving his loved ones a hard time. He will be remembered by many as a loveable guy that was often witty, sometimes ornery, and loved to have a good time.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy, parents Wayland and June Roberts, children Matthew (wife Kaci), Gena (husband Michael), and Kevin (wife Meredith); brother Jimmy (wife Judi), sister Lisa (husband Charlie); grandchildren Wesley, Miranda, Jocelyn, Ivy, Samantha, Luke, and Riggs, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ronnie will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. His family and friends are extremely thankful for the opportunity to know and love him, and are grateful for the outpouring of love and support in this time.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, October 13, 2019, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Ronnie’s Life will be held 10:00 AM Monday, October 14, 2019, First Baptist Church-Elgin. Ronnie will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church Future Fund or the American Cancer Society
